Sometimes I wonder why I continue to do this. Maybe it’s some bizarre sense of loyalty towards the people who took me in after my parents died. Maybe it’s because I know that if I don’t take care of them no one else will. It’s not like they know how to take care of themselves.   
Of course, maybe I’m just insane.   
I kind of doubt this; I don’t honestly think I’m insane. I am grasping at straws to find a reason for my continuing job of personal assistant/housemaid/cook/computer programmer/a bunch of other jobs that five other people should be doing instead of me ItM - Erin - 1

Sometimes I wonder if there’s anything more to what I’m doing with my life, if I should just give in and go into business like my dad or if I should stay the way I am, ‘a complete mess who doesn’t care about anything but playing loud music and spending time with friends,’ as my mom would put it.   
I’d put it as more of ‘a complete mess who enjoys playing loud music and hanging out with friends and having a good time.’ My mom and I have always had varying opinions of what I should do with my life.

Into the Moonlight, my long serial novel (ItM for short).

In the beginning, Erin, a vampire, is stuck as a servant in the home of Simon, a werewolf. She's been in the house for 10 years, but he's never bothered to look twice at her, until she falls into his lap. Literally.

(This is Volume I. Volume II starts at chapter 51 in a separate folder.)

It would’ve been very easy for me to fall into a total overprotective, controlling, possessive, domineering husband and father role, but then Erin would’ve yelled at me. I don’t think I could’ve hidden it from her, so I didn’t even try.   
But I wanted to.   
There would always be that part of me that wanted to bundle up Erin and the baby and hide them away in the middle of nowhere, like up high on a mountain in one of those one room cabins. We’d be all alone, just the three of us.   
During the day we could play with Gideon and teach him a ItM - Simon - 78

It would’ve been very easy for me to fall into just being a mother for Gideon. I could’ve let everything else go, turned my back on the normal non-baby things I did every day, and shift all of my focus on the baby.   
There were some times when I would do that. Gideon would spend the day with me, glued to my hip or my shoulder, and I would keep him with me. I’d play with him, read to him, watch him sleep.   
But I had Simon. He had this way of keeping me grounded, of knowing when I needed time by myself so I wouldn’t lose my mind. If I didn’t have Simon there to help ItM - Erin - 77

Maybe life was supposed to confuse you some days. There were times when the curveball would come and hit me, and I’d have to work hard to regain my balance.   
I preferred the days when nothing huge or life-altering happened. It was easier for me to follow the slow waves instead of the fast-paced hurricanes.   
And then there were the days when you expected nothing and something showed up, smacking you right in the face.   
I really hoped life was going to start warning me before the strange things happened, but it never did. At least it kept my reflexes working ItM - Simon - 76

i am now officially hooked on this game. damn you, Big Fish Games. *shaking fist* what's the shaky fist emote again??

tomorrow's Canada Day (yay) so everyone go eat some maple syrup or eat poutine or drink a Canadian beer. :flagcanada: but i would've had Wednesday off anyways, so really, it's nothing new, except everyone will be at home tomorrow.

and i don't have class of Thursday, either. :D

in other news............ i don't know what else is other news. that's pretty much it.

i really need to work on ItM, and my Esquire contest entry thing, and maybe something for the October conference writing contest. and there's my essay proposal due next week, then a presentation, then an essay draft, then the essay.
